The communication in a company, well-known like the organizational communication, is a determining factor in the success of a company; a good communication is synonymous of efficiency, organization and coordination, whereas a bad communication can be reason for internal inefficiency, disorder and conflicts.
The communication in a company must be based on a clear, simple and comprehensible language for the receiver. It must be opportune, the message must arrive at the receiver at the indicated moment. And it must be precise, does not have to use linguistic adornments nor unnecessary information.
Basically, the communication in a company is classified in two types: external communication and internal communication:
External communication
It is the communication where the message goes towards outside the company, that is to say, it goes towards the consumers, the public generally, groups of opinion, etc. Must like objective inform on the existence into a product or service, inform on his main benefits or characteristics, inform on the activities in which the company participates, etc.
In order to realize this type of communication means are used such as the television, the radio, the written press, telephone calls, shipment of e-mails, Internet, posters, posters, steering wheels, panels, advertizing business cards, letters, catalogs, pamphlets, etc.
An important aspect in the external communication is the public relations, where, through the participation in events, activities, seminaries, projects of social aid, etc., it looks for to create and to maintain a good image or reputation of the business.
Internal communication
It is the communication where the message goes towards within the company, that is to say, it goes towards the personnel of this one. It must like objective inform events, report occurrences, coordinate activities, organize tasks, control, motivate, lead, etc.
In order to realize this type of communication means are used such as circular, memorandos murals, intercoms, telephones, Internet, letters, publications, information, reports, meetings, to char them, events, etc.
This type of internal communication can be divided in formal communication and informal communication:
- Formal communication: she is that one where the message is originated in a member of a certain hierarchic level, and goes directed to a member of a hierarchic level inferior, a level superior, or a same level; following channels established formally by the company.
- Informal communication: she is that one where the message circulates between the members of the company, without accurately knowing the origin this one, and without following channels established formally by the company.
And, as well, the internal communication also can be divided in descendant vertical communication, ascending vertical communication, and horizontal communication.
- Descendant vertical communication: she is that one where the message originates in a hierarchic level superior (in the direction, a head, etc.), and goes directed to a hierarchic level inferior (to a subordinate, a worker, etc.). One appears under the form of orders, instructions, lessons, corrections, etc.
- Ascending vertical communication: she is that one where the message arises in a hierarchic level inferior (a subordinate, a worker, etc.), and goes directed to a hierarchic level superior (to the direction, a head, etc.). One appears under the form of suggestions, proposals, reclamations, etc.
- Horizontal communication: she is that one that occurs between members of a same hierarchic level. It has like main function the one to facilitate the coordination of activities.
