Characteristics of the leader

All good leader must count on the following capacities, abilities or characteristics:

Capacity to delegate authority

As leaders we must know when and to whom to delegate to him or to grant a greater authority to him, majors responsibility, major to be able of decisions, majors faculties. We must have the capacity to know when we can trust a worker so that this one can make its own decisions, without needing being consulting them.

We can grant greater authority to him, for example, when we noticed that a worker shows a good criterion, good common sense, responsibility, efficiency, etc. The same for the case of a good equipment or work group.

The knowledge to delegate authority, not only will allow a greater influence us like leader, but also, will give the possibility us of obtaining a greater motivation in the workers and, therefore, a greater productivity.

Concept and styles of leadership

The leadership consists of the capacity or ability that has a person to influence, to induce, to animate or to motivate to others to carry out certain objectives, with estusiasmo and by voluntado own.

In the case of a company, the leadership usually is applied of a person pertaining to a certain hierarchic level towards others of a hierarchic level inferior, for example, of the owner of the business towards its employees, or of a supervisor or head towards its subordinates.

Nevertheless, the leadership also can and must be applied enters workers who belong at a same hierarchic level, for example, the leadership that an enthusiastic and proactive worker offers towards his companions.

We see next the main types or styles of leadership that can be adopted, and then, some recommendations on which of them to use.

Basically three types or styles of leadership exist: authoritarian leadership, democratic leadership and liberal leadership:
