An in-core analysis consists of the study or analysis of the different factors or elements that can exist within a company, with the purpose of:
- to evaluate the resources whereupon counts a company for, that way, knowing the state or the capacity whereupon it counts.
- to detect strengths and weaknesses, and, that way, to design strategies that allow to harness or to take advantage of the strengths, and strategies that allow to neutralize or to eliminate the weaknesses.
An in-core analysis can be realized of different ways, a form to realize it, is through following process:
1. To determine the information that we are going to reunite in each functional area of the company
In the administrative area we can successfully obtain information on objectives, strategies, policies, culture, values, structure, planning, organization, direction, control, etc.
In the marketing area we can successfully obtain information on sales, objective public, product, price, distribution, promotion, effectiveness of the publicity, service to the client, loyalty of the clients, etc.
In the area of accounting and finances we can successfully obtain financial information on liquidity, yield, financing, investments, ratios, capital of work, assets, liabilities, patrimony, cash flow, capital, etc.
In the area of production or operations we can successfully obtain information on plant disposition, investigation and development, technology, acquisition of consumptions, control of existence, sub-contracting, efficiency of the production, etc.
In the area of human resources or personnel we can successfully obtain labor information on hiring, qualification, remuneration, incentives, relations, leadership, motivation, measurement of the performance, etc.
2. To determine sources of intelligence
Secondly we determined which will be the sources through which we are going to obtain the data that we required, which can be, for example, financial statements, results of audits, internal publications, information, reports, surveys or interviews to the workers, meetings, etc.
3. Harvesting of information
Once determined the sources of intelligence to use, we happened to carry out the task of collecting or of collecting the data, task that would have to be carried out by all the members of the company.
4. Analysis of the information
Once collected the information, we happened to evaluate it or to analyze it, with the purpose of to know the real state or capacity the company, and with the purpose of to detect the strengths and the weaknesses.
The strengths allow the company to have a high level of competitiveness, whereas the weaknesses harm the profit of the objectives.
Examples of strengths could be: the differentiation, the competitive advantages, sufficient financial resources, competitive abilities, positive image before the consumers, leadership in the market, good organization, economy of scale, discharge quality of products, good attention to the client, efficient channels of distribution, marks recognized, etc.
Examples of weaknesses could be: problems of liquidity, yield below the average of the sector, lack of definition in the functions, incapacity to innovate, deficient advertizing channels, deficient direction, obsolete machines or equipment, bad image, difficulties to increase the productive capacity, difficulties to improve the quality of products, clear, working objectives little little motivated, etc.
At the time of determining the weaknesses, we must differences between the symptoms and the problems, for example, the low sales are a symptom, whereas the problem could be, for example, a bad publicity.
Once we have detected the strengths and weaknesses, we happened to in sequence make a list of importance of the strengths, and another one of the weaknesses.
5. To make decisions or to design strategies
And, finally, once analyzed the information, we happened to establish the objectives of the company, on the basis of the capacity and to the possibilities of the company. And to make decisions or to formulate strategies that allow us to harness or to take advantage of the strengths, and to neutralize or to eliminate the weaknesses; beginning with the strengths and more important weaknesses.
