We see next 3 advice related to the management of the human resources in the days of crisis.
1. To avoid the personnel reduction
The reduction of the personnel usually is first that makes the companies to confront the crisis; nevertheless, this measurement, would have to be the last one in taking.
Reducing workers can be a short term solution, but in the long run it finishes affecting the productivity of the company, and generating a great cost due to the search, selection and again personal qualification that must contract once improved the situation.
Before reducing the personnel, he is recommendable to take other measures such as, for example, to reduce the working hours, to reduce labor days, to reduce wages, to reduce production costs, to reduce administrative expenses; and even, to take the opportunities business that can be presented/displayed like product of the crisis.
2. Leadership based on the communication
In the days of crisis it is where the abilities of the leadership are due to improve.
Through a good leadership one is due to maintain motivated the workers, to avoid possible problems or disputes that can arise, and mainly to maintain a good communication with them.
A permanent communication with the workers, avoiding therefore the uncertainty and the rumors or speculations is due to maintain that can arise, and that can generate labor a climate unfavorable and, therefore, a diminution of the productivity.
The communication must be formal, preferably given through the heads or supervisors, who must inform to their subordinates everything what can serve to maintain a good climate labor, and to clear any doubt that can arise in the workers.
3. Sincerar with the workers
A good communication implies to be sincere with the workers, and to inform to them how it is affecting the crisis to the company.
Workers know that crisis affects to all, and if we try to hide that also it affects to us, we will create the doubt, which will take finally to the uncertainty, which will take to a fear by a possible dismissal, and to a tense atmosphere and a diminution in the productivity. Only sincerando to us with the workers, we can generate a better climate labor.
In case it is necessary the reduction of working hours or wages, we must communicate to the worker the reasons to him of it, and try to reach some agreement with him. We must make understand him that the measures to take will be a form to leave the crisis, and consider that many workers will be prepared to make some concessions with so of not losing their uses.
In case of a reduction of the personnel, also we must communicate the reasons of it, as much to the workers who will be broken ties like a those that still they will follow with us. To these last ones we must communicate to him that the company was forced to make the decision to reduce certain personnel, but who continues requesting the collaboration of all the others. Therefore mistrusts or rumors will only be able to be avoided that take to a tense climate that could affect the productivity of the company.
