Advice for the management of suppliers

We see next some advice who will help us with the management of our suppliers:
To choose well to the suppliers
Great part of the success of our business, will depend on the suppliers that we have. To count on good suppliers not only allows to tell us on quality consumptions and, therefore, to be able to offer quality products, but also allows us to have low costs, the security to know that always we will count on the orders in time, etc.
Therefore, whenever we must choose a supplier we must take our time, and to compare and to evaluate the different alternatives well that exist, considering selection criteria such as prices, quality, conditions of payment, downtimes, guarantees, etc.
To take to the suppliers like allies
Before to take to the supplier like a competitor, we must take it like a partner or ally.
We took if it like a competitor and, for example we pressed, them so that it diminishes his prices, if we managed to convince it of it, in the long run could be seen affected in his economy and to decide to diminish the quality of the products that supply to us.
On the other hand, if we took to our supplier like an ally and, for example we helped, them so that it improves his processes or it diminishes his costs, if we obtained it, it could be more efficient in his deliveries, or could improve his economy and decide to grant majors to us payment facilities.
To maintain good relations with the suppliers
A form to take to a supplier as an ally is developing and maintaining good relations with him.
In order to maintain good relations, we must treat it courteously, fulfill the payments in the decided dates, invite them to the important events of the company, etc.
To maintain good relations with our supplier allows us to have a good coordination, to have a good communication (and, for example, to be able to anticipate us to the problems or, in any case, to be able to solve them quickly), to be able to manage that they are more flexible with us, to be able to obtain that they give to majors payment facilities us, etc.
To evaluate constantly to the suppliers
We always must evaluate the performance of our suppliers, we must evaluate if their products maintain the same quality of always, if they give the orders opportunely, if they fulfill the downtimes, if they fulfill the agreed to agreements, etc.
We must avoid to fall in the custom to have always the same supplier, to permanently evaluate it and, when doing it, always counting on the possibility of replacing it in case it is necessary.
To look for new suppliers constantly
As well as we must constantly evaluate the performance of our suppliers, also we must look for new suppliers constantly.
We must permanently look for suppliers with better products, prices or conditions, to be kind to the appearance of new suppliers, or to see if the suppliers that or we knew have improved their products or conditions.
Always is recommendable to count on more of supplier, and even though we are not going to use to all the suppliers that we have selected, is always recommendable to have them at the hand, in case it happened any thing, for example, that the first supplier cannot be given supply, cannot fulfill with the required terms, or before any emergencia.
