After the executive summary, the second part or section of a plan of businesses is the definition of the business, which consists of the description of the business and the aspects related to this one.

The objective of the part of the definition of the business is that the reader understands in what consists the project or proposed business, and knows the reasons for which he considers himself that this one will be successful.

The elements that would have to conform the definition of the business are:

Name of the business

In this point we must indicate to the name of the project or business, as well as other initial datas such as the location, the type of company, the type of economic activity (if it will be a producing company, marketing or of services), etc.

The description of the business

In this point we must explain of what the business consists that we are going to realize, and of describing to the product or service that we are going to offer, indicating its basic characteristicses.

Plan of businesses (Part 1):

The executive summary is the first part or section of a plan of businesses. It consists of a summary of the most important points of the other parts of the plan, reason why it must be put at the beginning of this one, but to be elaborated after to have culminated the other parts.

The objective of the executive summary is that the reader has a general and brief vision of the project, can include/understand in a single reading of what the business consists, and that is generated interest by the project and to deepen in the reading of the other parts of the plan.

Often the reader of a business plan (for example, a financista potential or investor), only decides to read the executive summary to make a fast decision, reason why always we must pay special attention in its elaboration.

Generally, all executive summary would have to fulfill the following 3 requirements:

• To explain clearly of what the business consists: by more complex than it is the business, the executive summary must allow the reader to understand clearly of what the business consists from the reading of front page.
• To create interest in the reader: the executive summary must be able to generate in the reading interest by project and to deepen in the reading of the other parts of the plan.
• To be a summary: the executive summary must invite to the reading and, for it, it must be, indeed, a summary; the recommendable thing is that this one does not include more than 3 pages.

Requirements to elaborate a good plan of businesses

A plan of businesses can as guide have like objective being used for creation and management of a business, to evaluate the feasibility and yield of a project, to convince to a bank or financial organization to grant a loan, or to demonstrate attractive of the project to potential investors or partners.

But whatever objective, to be able to fulfill anyone of them, all plan of businesses, would have to fulfill the following requirements:

To demonstrate the attractiveness of the business idea

A business plan, besides describing to the new business or project, must demonstrate the attractiveness of this one.

For it, besides demonstrating with numbers the yield of the business, it must describe the plan throughout, the reasons for which the idea is really an opportunity of businesses.

These reasons could be conformed by a differentiating characteristic, a competitive advantage, an unsatisfied necessity, a tendency of consumption, a market in growth, etc.

What is a plan of businesses?

A plan of businesses, also known like company plan, consists of a written document where to a business or project is described that is about to be realized and everything what it is related in this way, as the objectives of the business or project, the strategies that will allow to reach these objectives, the study from the market to which is going away to penetrate, the form in which they are going away to commercialize products or services, the investment that are going away to realize, the required financing, the projection of the income and debits, the financial evaluation and the organization of the business or project.

Usually one thinks that a plan of businesses is only elaborated at the time of creating a new business or company, nevertheless, a business plan also is accustomed to and must elaborate when it is counted on a business in march, and it is sending a new product to the market, acquiring new machinery, penetrating in a new market, penetrating in a new heading of business, and every time it is about to realize a project where it must invest a considerable amount of money.

To elaborate a plan of businesses is not nor must be a simple task, but it is and it must be an activity that requires of time and dedication, every time this one account with several parts and requires of abundant information, being able it to be necessary the accomplishment of a previous investigation that allows to know all the aspects related to the business or project.

How to present/display or to set out a business plan

We suppose the case that once elaborated our plan of business, has arrived the moment for presenting/displaying it or for exposing it to investors, moneylenders or potentials partners.

In order to have majors possibilities of convincing them that they invest with us, of that they grant the loan to us that we required, or of which they become our partners, first who we must do is to prepare a good presentation.

This presentation would have to be accompanied of audio-visual aid. The use of slides of Power Point could be a good alternative.

Another aid for our presentation, could be the physical presence of the product that we are going to create, as well as some of the elements related to this one like, for example, some of the advertizing elements.

Also, of being possible, he is recommendable to give a copy of our plan of business to each assistant.

The rent of the commercial premises

The decision to rent or to buy the premises for a business mainly depends on the capital or the capacity of financing that is had.

Buying the premises offer the advantage to tell on tangible assets that we could take as an investment in the long term.

Whereas renting the premises offer the advantage to reduce the initial investment considerably, and to diminish the risk; although it presents/displays the disadvantage to have to permanently pay a high amount like rent by assets that never will be ours.

To buy the premises would seem to be one better option, but unless we count with sufficient capital or financing like buying one, the renting appears like a good alternative.

The costs of rent of the premises vary following the location of this one, while nearer it is to commercial sites, majors will be the costs; and while more moved away it is, smaller they will be the costs, but also, the public who circulates around the zone. A good alternative could be to obtain the premises located in the limits of the commercial areas.

To rent the premises located within a commercial center always will be a good alternative at the time of locating a business, due, mainly, to the high volume of sales that can be gotten to obtain, like product of the high flow of consumers that presents/displays.
